WELCOME TO HONEYCOMB HOLLOW CANDLES
Most people believe that all there is to candle burning is to
light the wick. Certain precautions must be taken when burning
candles that will help to keep you and your environment safe
and result in the ultimate candle experience.
FOLLOW THE CANDLE MANUFACTURERS DIRECTIONS
Most candle manufacturers place candle burning instructions
specific for their candle on the wrapper, jar or directly on
the candle itself. Please look for the labels and read them
carefully before lighting your candle.
PLACE ALL CANDLES IN AN APPROPRIATE CANDLE HOLDER
Candle holders are all made for specific sizes and types of
candles. Become familiar with candle holders that are made especially
for the types of candles that you enjoy burning. Be aware that
the candle holder itself is not flammable (wood, etc.) . To
avoid burn marks on your precious furniture and counter tops,
place the candle holder on a heat resistant surface.
PLACE CANDLES AWAY FROM FLAMMABLE ITEMS
Burn your candles in open areas. Keep them away from draperies,
table cloths, towels, ect. Remove floral candle wreaths while
candle is lit, most are not flame proof.
*Remember to keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
KEEP YOUR CANDLES AWAY FROM DRAFTS
Drafts will cause your candles to burn unevenly and drip as
well as shorten the burn time. This includes open windows, ceiling
fans and drafts from forced hot air or air conditioners.
* NEVER LEAVE A BURNING CANDLE UNATTENDED
All candles need your constant attention and must not be left
burning in unoccupied rooms.
KEEP THE WICK CENTERED AT ALL TIMES
Whether burning a taper, votive, pillar, jar candle, etc., a
centered wick will ensure that your candle burns evenly. Never
allow the wick to touch or come near the side of the container
or holder. This may cause over heating of the container and
possible breakage. Use a metal utensil to push the wick to the
center when necessary.
KEEP THE WICK TRIMMED
To avoid high flames and soot, keep the wick trimmed to 1/4"
from the wax. Always trim the wick when the candle is extinguished.
Be sure not to trim the wick too short to avoid the wick from
becoming buried in the liquid wax. Remove all the trimmings
from the wax.
* NEVER BURN A CANDLE TO THE END
It is never acceptable to burn a candle until no wax remains.
Discontinue use of a candle when 1/2" or more of wax remains.
After this point, the wax will become extremely hot and the
likelihood of cracked or broken containers or holders is possible.
DO NOT BLOW OUT CANDLES
To eliminate smoking and to avoid cinders from landing on something
flammable or yourself. Extinguish your candle by snuffing with
a candle snuffer or dip the wick into the liquid wax using a
metal utensil.
DRIPPING
Under varying circumstances, it is possible for any candle to
drip, even those labeled dripless. Always be prepared by protecting
the surface on which the candles is placed.
FADING
All candles fade somewhat depending on where they are placed.
Never place candles in or close to windows or where lights are
directly shining on them for long periods of time. Store candles
in a dark, cool place. Do not store hand rolled beeswax candles
in cold areas since the cold will crack them. When beeswax candles
become too cool, they develop a natural frosted look called
"bloom". To return them to their natural appearance,
simply go over them lightly with a hair dryer.
HELPFUL HINTS
VOTIVE CANDLES: should be placed in a snug
fitting votive holder. The snug fit will allow the votive to
burn longer. To avoid messy clean ups, place a few drops of
water on the bottom of the votive holder, place the votive inside
and burn. When you are ready to replace the votive, simply pop
out the old wax.
JAR CANDLES: are made for burning for long
periods of time. You should burn a jar candle for a minimum
of four hours each time it is lit. This will allow the wax to
become liquid over the entire diameter of the jar and prevent
your candle from burning a hole down the center.
CLEAN UP & SPILLS: most candle wax can
be removed with very little effort. For wax that has dripped
or spilled onto furniture, etc., use your portable hair dryer
to warm the wax and absorb with a paper towel. For clothing,
tablecloths, etc., place fabric between two layers of paper
towels and iron over the top paper towel until all wax is absorbed.
Candles with scented oils are almost impossible to remove because
of the oil in the fragrance.
